Injury Rehab

stretchingAt Active Motion a combination of the following methods are used in the Injury Rehab treatment.

The Dorn Method

A gentle treatment that uses active movements of the patient and light pressure of the therapist to correct leg length discrepancy and spinal alignment.

Neuromuscular Therapy (NMT)

NMT is used to locate and release spasm and hyper-contraction in the tissues, eliminate trigger points, restore postural alignment, correct bio-mechanics and flexibility to the tissues, rebuild strength of injured tissues and assist venous and lymphatic flow.

Neuromuscular Therapy examines eight physiological factors
of capital importance in the treatment of somatic pain and dysfunction.

  1. Ischemia
  2. Trigger Points
  3. Nerve Entrapment/Compression
  4. Postural Distortions
  5. Faulty Biomechanics
  6. Nutrition
  7. Perpetuating Factors
  8. Emotional Wellbeing

Remedial Exercises

The exercises will work to restore function to the injured individual.  This will be achieved by

  • Re-establishing neuromuscular control
  • Restoring range of motion
  • Improving flexibility
  • Regaining muscular strength endurance and power
  • Regaining postural stability

Ultrasound

Different sound frequencies used to aid soft tissue repair.  A painless form of treatment.
